E.Central MN | I don't know, when I step back and look at this market I see two elephants that could change direction and run us all over. One is China. We are assuming that they will buy a lot of grain from us. China has done some unpredictable things to its people in the past, we can't guarantee they won't shut off imports in the future. That leads to the other elephant I'm scared of and thats the US economy heading for a recession. That could easily drive food and everything else down in price as cash dried up. If prices started crashing export buyers might slow their buying allowing prices to fall further. I don't think we'll see another 1929 type crash but who knows? Sometimes holding cash may be preferred to holding grain depending on which is going to happen, runaway inflation or deep depression. my 2 cts | |
