I agree with the ounce of prevention philosophy. I have white face Herefords who are particularly susceptible to pinkeye and have had very good face fly control with these rubs and dangling "flyps". You put some diesel fuel w/very little insecticide mix on the rub once a month (as White suggests) and it keeps the herd pretty much free of face and body flies and in turn pinkeye.

Low cost low tech approach that seems to work. I string a rub with flyps across the alley to the waterer during the season. I look on antibiotics as a last resort only for an infected animal. So far have not had any pinkeye infections at all. Animals seem a lot calmer too without the flies during the heat of summer. jmho.
