| We are putting together a machine to strip-till continuous corn. Fall strips with anhydrous. Would like input from people who have done this. We are starting with a B and H ridge till cultivator. Has a depth wheel, followed by a smooth coulter, then shank with cultivator sweep. Going to replace cultivator sweep with anhydrous knife and attach anhydrous closer behind. Plan is to pull it just like a row crop cultivator which will create strips between the old rows. Will mean pulling one more knife than necessary, but power is not an issue and will save tires on tractor from running over corn stalks. Have heard row cleaners are necessary to handle the extra trash, also heard that with that much trash there is not enough room between the stips to hold it all, so don't bother trying to move it. Anyone have experience with or without row cleaners on a strip-till bar, we have good row cleaners on the planter. Other questions, Smooth or wavy coulter, tillage knife style? Thanks for the input | |
