I would suggest going by the manual as I do myself. I would also suggest using the "in between" settings to start and go from there. Perhaps you will need to take some settings up and some will need to go down. When you initially setup the combine, take the time to start in front of the combine and follow the path of the grain and chaff thru the machine. It will be well worth your while, you will develop an understanding of the machines operation. You wont have to go 5 acres, just go 50 feet. Look in the grain tank for sample quality. Look under the combine and behind it for lost grain. You may lose some grain without even going thru the combine. Now you can change your settings accordingly and check again.
