The sensor in question is in fact a cam position sensor, not a crank sensor. There is no crank sensor on that engine. That's why Navistar calls it CAMP, for CAM Position.
Good news: no-one uses the single cam position sensor anymore. Both Cat and International learned the hard way that those types of sensors (often called Hall Effect sensors) just don't survive forever with the vibration that a diesel engine puts out.
Current engines (such as the new 6.0L) use good old fashioned, reliable mag pickups in two locations: one on the cam, and the other on the crank.
