Hope you never have to see it -- pitiful sight.

This wasn't a case of being born in a snow bank, it was almost bare, hard-frozen ground on a ditch bank, and it didn't help that it was born earlier than what was expected.

I think actually calving in snow is much better since the calves will settle in to the snow, albeit minimally, but at least it's a bit of insulation from the wind.
