We've now got our 2nd calf in the last 25 years with frost-bitten feet. It happened back in early January -- momma decided a secluded spot to calve was much more important than calving in a nicely bedded area. One of the hind hooves slipped off yesterday, and the stark reality of a magic "lead pill" is very near. What a shame. I'm just wondering how common this is, especially among the northern cold weather contributers on here. |
