Subject: Why late sidedressing??

There were many that i saw applying N in corn that I thought they would be busting it off it was so tall. That corn now becasue we have had no rain looks like crap. Why do they wait so long??? Do they expect that the N is all available right away??? I get nervous if i don't have it on by june 1st. I think some were waiting for the price to drop. The money they might have saved went away pretty fast in this drought.
I guess I will never understand why farmers do some of the things they do especially when you know and you think they know it affects there bottom line.
