Subject: RE: Harmonic crankshaft balbncers on John Deere tractors

Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND
When my 4450 was at the dealer for the once every 5 year tune up, was at 5000 hrs and 18 years on the damper, The thing has an absolutely great little engine and I did not want to screw it up cause I was too cheap to put a damper on it. I told the shop forman to replace the damper along with the other inspection/adjustments.
The forman asked if the internal drive water pump had ever been rebuilt, I said no, he said it would be good PM, just like the damper, as when they fail, the coolant goes in the engine oil. We did that too. I slept well when it came back home, thinking I had nipped a couple of potential engine killers in the bud. JMHO
