| Just heard Art Douglas from Creighton Univ. at the Ag show in Spokane. His forcast was for a wet trending to normal precip in the corn belt with normal temps. Says the jet stream will be way south and Canada will go from cold and wet to hot and dry (along with the guys in Mt, ND, SD) all of a sudden like.
Couple of othe interesting notes: The Hole in the Arctic Ice has closed, and there is now ice out into the pacific ocean and sea ice as far south as Beijing, China (been 50 years since ice was last that far south). China has had some areas with -70C temps for over 2 weeks. They haven't developed their natural gas infrastructure because they had mountains of excess coal. Well they have now used up all that excess coal this winter and are importing coal from Australia. He says that China will experience a quick shift in their grain areas from Cold to Hot this year due to pacific ocean temps near them. If there is another winter like this one next year in the Arctic, the ice will all be back to the previous avg. thickness. Pretty colorful maps too.
