Dagmar, MT | I have some May 08 HTAs spring wheat locked in at a futures price I'm not too proud of right now. Basis here is usually + to - $.20 so I wasn't expecting to do much better than the actual May 08 price that some idiot(uhh me) locked in months ago. Well all of a sudden the basis is + $2.59. When I choose to lock in this basis the protein premiums are set at current levels, 0 right now. I'm thinking it's time to lock in this $2.59/bu I was never expecting. Does anyone think there could be some decent protein premiums in the very near future for whatever reason or do you think the basis can go higher yet? Futures just aren't keeping up with cash prices. Or should I make the call and be happy with this extra $$$ right now. The wheat is burned up 06 crop should average 18 pro. Thanks Cory. | |
