SCMN | Where are you getting your numbers from? Not doubting you, just curious. How many billion gallons is 2% of our annual gasoline usage, I;m sure someone has figures handy? Corn ethanol is not the total solution but it's a partial solution none the less and it's doable right now.
Do these figures take into account the increases in the amount of ethanol yielded from a bushel of corn over the last 3 years, which could be pretty significant? Do they account for increases in average corn yield? Of the huge mandates for renewable fuels in the latest bill ethanol from corn tops out at 15BGY in 2015 and remains at that level until 2022. The rest will come from other sources, cellulosic and the like. If current trends continue we will continue to see an increase in average yields and an increase in the amount of ethenol yielded from a bushel of corn(special hybrids will be key). | |
