IMO, yes, they should be inquiring as to to fact of banding vs broadcasting. If you put the amount of fert down that the crop takes out, only a portion of it will be available for that year anyway, so saying I applied X for X removal isn't quite the way it happens. 100% of the nutrients applied are NOT plant available in the application year. You are then relying on the "soil bank" of nutrients to make up the rest.
Also, ask if they are taking into account the soils ability to rejuvinate itself, or are going strictly off of removal only. The soil has the ability to grow XX yield year after year without ANY nutrients added, depending on your soils depends on what that figure may be. Also, is the consultant/dealer giving credit to the residue left behind? Not saying they are or they are not, just asking the ?? is all. | |
