Subject: Didn't apply enough this year.

I'm in a drought area and the only good corn is where 80+units of n were applied early and they got a good rain on it. That corn is still green most of the way down and pollenated pretty well. Anybody going light early and sidedressing most of thier n has poor corn because there has been no rain to take it down to the roots. Corn is fired up to the ear and poor pollenation, sometimes right across the road on the same kind of soil. Big difference in yields here and most of it will be attributed to the drought but a closer examination looks to be amount of N and the timing of the application. I think they are trying to get us to cut too much N. it works in good years but hit a bad weather year and it costs big time.
