| My brother and I just bought 105 acres (all tillable) right next to our home farm. ($6000 / acre)
This was seen by our banker as a cheap price for the area. We have seen farms from the area sell for as much as $8500.
Are you aware of some of the government loans offered? We received 1/2 of the money @ 5% fixed for 40 years. I thought this was a great deal.
If you can swing it, I would buy it. My dad has purchased land since the 1970's, and he always made it work. He often says that it is the best thing that he ever did. While neighboring farmers bought new combines and tractors, he bought dirt. Guess who is ahead now? | |
