| Unfortunately you cannot prevent people from being stupid. I've been in this buisness for a long time and have seen many "stupid" moves by operators. Some will own up to their actions, but most will not. It's always the equipment's fault.
I also know about a couple of accidents (serious) involving different brands of auto-steers, one being nearly fatal. One was caused by manufacturer oversight, (since corrected), the other by lack of understanding of the proper operation and dangers of the system.
The reason the liability screens are there is to protect the companies from the "stupid" people, because they are the ones who would most likely sue the manufacturer for their own neglegence. No matter what brand of system you use, as an owner you must take responsibility for the safe operation of your equipment. Bypassing the warning screens might save 5 seconds, but if we want companies to continue to improve their equipment, it is just one "irritant" we will have to live with. | |
