Subject: RE: How far off is the drought gene technology?

I talked to a Monsanto researcher 2 weeks ago and he told me at best the technology will add 25-30 bu/a in a dry year. If you are going to put in irrigation go ahead. The drought gene will still allow you to spread your water over more acres. From the gist of the conversation he implied that Monsanto would price it differently depending upon where you are in the U.S. and they will take half of the expected benefit in tech fees.
