depends on your fert. program the 2nd yr. Plowing for corn on corn is no doubt going to be the way to go!!!! Now ask your self WHY. I dont think it has anything to do w/ the stalk being broken up. It is called warm soil & early seedling vigor. A few years back a ditch fire burned about 15-20 ac of our stalks, we did not really mind & chiseled it all the same. The next spring it was corn on corn and you could obviously see there was no trash in this spot , but the corn in this area was off to the races & in the lead the entire year.

That was when we started strip tilling. The old timers always say when you plow, the blacker the better. I agree I just dont turn the whole d- - field black.
The corn plants have not figured it out yet, I hope no one tells them. I love doing fall tillage 30ft to the pass. & skipping the recreational tillage in the spring.
