| On our silt and clay loam soils we tests that range from low to very high K, and we have seen visual potash deficiency on soybeans and corn in all these fields, even when broadcasting good amounts of KCL. The fix to our problem was to start banding KCL while planting. 60-75# of KCL in a 4x4 band was all it took to do the job. The saturation in the band over whelms the soil around it to tie up nutrients, leaving plenty available for the crop. We've banded all fertilizer at planting for 20+ years now. It has definitely paid us good retrurns. We use a truck with a Wilmar tender bed, and a Pneumatics dry hopper on the planter to make it happen. | |
