I think getting beans planted early is very over looked and it probably has alot to do with the number of split row planters being used. We started drilling beans in '94 and by '96 we were planting corn and beans at the same time and it didn't take long to see that our early beans almost always outyielded the later planted beans. One of the reasons we have two planters is so we can plant both crops at the same time but it also lets us specialize each planter for one crop. Alot of guys around here don't like to plant beans before May but from what I've seen over a decade of planting beans as early as March 23rd is that by May 1st we are probably loosing yield on beans.
