West Texas
We have to plow to bring up fresh dirt. It's amazing what a differnce in yield it makes. Specially in peanuts.
You need to plow under the diseases as this ground has raised peanuts for a lot of years.
Where we put in new waterlines etc you can really see the difference in the fresh dirt that was brought to the top.
Compaction is somewhat of a problem but not too bad. Our soils are very sandy in most of the area! It works better after an inch of rain then dry in most fields.

We have one field with a different clay type soil that is very rocky. Haven't plowed it in over 5 years. Cotton hasn't been growing good and would look yellow and stunted. This spring we ripped it and the cotton looks amazingly good. It's in a 3 years cotton/ 1 year wheat rotation.
