Both K and Cl are plant nutrients, and yield responses can be had from either.  Many studies on wheat or sorghum in Kansas show responses to each of those nutrients.

Hay Wilson is correct -- the soil tests for K are unreliable.  

Responses to K have occurred in soils testing from 300 to 600 ppm K.
