| I don't know if they kept it up but at the time-at least 10 years ago- thier data showed that in the same row spacing-a planted bean-planted with a planter unit would outyield a drilled bean planted with a drill by 5-7 bu per acre. Thier data showed that sometimes the narrow row yields are affected by the planting equipment used and that is why 30's compete so well with the narrower rows. don't know if they kept up the tests or concluded that they had enough data. I plant 15's at 165,000 with a planter and have not tested for several years but the advantage to narrow rows jumps around- some years nothing, some years 10 bu but most of the time about 3-4. | |
