As far as extra machinary costs, I was at a sale the other day and watched a nice 20ft 5400 int drill just like I have sell for 2500$. They are good drills and i have over 5000 acres through mine and have spent less than 100$ on repairs.
So extra machinary cost for narrow rows is a mute point.
