I'm going to take a stab at this one. Thistles grow in patches and are all interlocked by one big web of roots. That could be one plant right there. The reason for the circle could be that you have one big rock near the surface of that patch. There, I tried. I could be way off tho. Maybe it's the crop circle after all. Anybody call Rory Tate?
