we put in tile on 25 foot centers with around 22-24 inches of cover around here in our heavy clay. very flat ground so has to be put in with very little fall and we feel that the 3" wont do the job as well. for us we feel like there's is not enough difference in price between 3" and 4" to risk putting in 3" and not have it perform as well.
