| Jim,
I am in SouthWest OH the above data supports what we see here. White mold is not a problem. Go to CoolBean.org (I think) and look at Purdue's research data on row width, canopy, and fungicide penetration. Not what you may think. Population difference here is one- third of a bag, and one-third bag costs a lot less than $38. Most people here want two seeding machines so that corn and soybeans can be put in at the same time. I don't know about 30" rows ,but there is more harvest loss in 15" rows than 7.5". Different area's have different challenges I don't think we can make a blanket statement for every area without knowing the soil type and ect. Here the narrow rows benefits, exceed any negatives, and that is why we went that way in the first place. The fact that the industry went from wide rows to narrow and now back out to wide sounds like an equipment manufacturer's agenda. It really looks silly, sometimes I wonder if we really know anything; just my thoughts, had let them out. | |
