at the 800 number listed on the form..........not the general income tax number.

Explain your situation................I have called them several times, related to changing trucks, etc...........and they have been much more helpful than the "usual" income tax 800 no. person.

Note--------- IRS has to be very careful about NOT sending a form to taxpayers.......they get into a real problem of perception, etc. if they don't.  In other words, if they send an unneeded form, they might get accused for being wasteful.........but if they don't send the form, and the person therefore does not remember to do it, then IRS has a compliance issue, which costs a lot more time and money to handle.
