I see them here in high numbers as well. They lay their eggs on the milkweeds and a striped(black yellow white) caterpillar emerges and feeds on the plant. It eventually turns into the Monarch butterfly. As far as I know it prefers only the milkweed. Nice to look at. Did you see One will carry another upside down. Must be the mating thing.
