southern MN | Contracts typically run 10 years, and can be extended for short or long terms. It seemed we were in a notch of very little coming out this past fall for 2008, bu more could next fall. One can pay a penalty & pull it out, but that is typically not affordable. Pulling it all out would take 10 years, left to current setup.
As will be pointed out, it is often the poorest ground and won't yield, but to folks in business suits, it is 'acres of crop' and will pull down the market if it does come out in any number.
