East Central, Nebraska | I am not dissagreeing with the posts above me but i have looked into it a few times and took advantage of it a couple times. About 8 or so years ago i rented a bull for two seasons from a small local dairy guy. I think i paid $200 to $300 for use of the bull for 15-20 cows. They told me when he was done to bring him back. It worked good. They didn't have to feed him when they weren't using him and i didn't have to the rest of the year. I guess i didn't think it was too bad of a deal since i knew them pretty well and they knew me. It would probably be diffrent if i found an add in the paper but like i said this was some years ago and it seemed to work in both our situations. I have also heard of guys in the area sharing bulls with their fall calving friends to save on feed costs. If i remember right he paid for the test if he wasn't good and i did if he was. | |
