South Central Kansas | My parents didn't go through a pre-depression situation as in Montana, but they were married in 1937 and both worked 8-10 years before they got married. They borrowed only for machinery and land. We always had what we NEEDED when I grew up,not necessarily what we wanted. Compare that to today's world.
