| I'll say up front I have no experience with bull rental. When we still milked, alot of producers were starting to lease bulls. We never did. We figured that we didn't need any more diseases. What I will say is its very common to lease rams in the sheep inidustry. I get guys wanting to lease rams from me all the time, I won't do it ever. I also won't even consider buying rams from guys who lease rams out. Way too many diseases out there that can be brought home. Ask a guy raising boars if you can rent one to breed a few sow! Most, if not all, will laugh you off the place. The sheep and cattle industry doesn't take bio-security serious enough. With cows(and sheep) Johnes would come to my mind as one disease that is easily transmited. | |
