I was filling up with diesel at a truck stop along the IA/MN border yesterday and noticed the empty cattle semi trailer at the next pump was from Saskatchewan. Driver said he had just delivered a load of cattle to a packer. Seems a long way to haul live cattle to a packer, doesn't it? Wouldn't it be better to use a packer nearer the cattle source and haul beef rather than live cattle? I don't know anything about the flow of trucked cattle around this country but this surprised me. Is this normal? Jim at Dawn
