Subject: RE: Stock cows going to slaughter

northwest tennessee
There has been a lot of cows sold in this area too. We had a drought and people are getting out because of age and then alot of pasture has been worked up or is going to be this spring. I think there is going to be demand for heifers later this spring and young bred cows. Bred cows in general will be good I think. I think these high grain prices have people scared too. I have also heard with wheat prices like they are not as much wheat will be grazed out west either. Lots of factors involved I think but I am like you I dont think herds are being built any longer. I help a guy that buys cattle here and you cant believe the amount that was sold this summer through the south. And there are more to be sold I am sure cause hay is really short.
