Virginia | Well said Dave. Cattle aren't the smartest animals in the world. We had three 5 weight calves catch their heads in a ring feeder with the ziz-zag bars. All 3 were dead when we found them. We've cut bars in the hay saver feeders to free their heads. Had a calf crawl in the feeder and had to turn the feeder upside down to get him out.
We've tried different styles of feeders over the past 25-30 years and all have their advantages and disadvantages.
Jim, listen to what these guys are saying. They're giving some good advice. I don't think the feeder you have is completely free of problems just as all the others have problems as well. | |
