Subject: electric fence and snow question

Driftless SW Wisconsin

There is a 2 wire electric fence around some cornstalks being grazed. Both wires are hot. Originally was one wire but a calf seemed to like the other side of the fence in a dip so I added a second wire lower down.

I am new to electric fencing. With the ground completely snow covered after the weekend storm, should I leave both wires hot or make one a ground wire? If so which one?

Hopefully the snow will melt in a few days as it is only Dec 2 but I seem to recall reading that snow is an insulator to an electric fence circuit?
