I was watching a couple heifers and calves eat hay during the snowstorm today. Bought this interesting looking balefeeder from Kelly Melius at one of the past summer's Dakota shows. The cattle seem to love getting into the bale and I was amazed at how little waste there was from these almost 2000 lb bales. The smaller calves will probably clean up what does fall to the ground. I like the idea of getting the bale up off of the ground. Putting two bales in gives me some time between fills. A great product. It is interesting how they get their heads right into the bale without pulling it all over. Heavy blowing snow today - looked like a Christmas card. Cattle don't seem to mind as long as they can get on the downwind side of the feeder. Hope everyone is home safe this weekend. Jim at Dawn
