Southeastern Wyoming | I finally got my calves (only got 11 of them for this year). They are weighing around 650 lbs. I'm going to follow through with my plan of putting them out to the sunflower stalks and was wondering what all of you think about keeping them on corn all winter and alfalfa...probably 60 lbs of corn for all of them and 100 lbs of alfalfa per day ( I am also feeding free choice millet straw along with some good grass pasture). Or the other option would be get them off the corn and "grub" them through the winter to save on feed costs and then kick them out to the green grass this spring. I am going to take them to get butchered and market locally as all natural and locally raised beef. Let me know your thoughts and opinions on any feeding or marketing advice.
