Deckerville MI | Yes, I'll be at the Southwest Ag Conference, I try not to miss. I truly enjoy Peter Johnson. When anyone at the conference asks where I'm from my stock answer is 60 miles west of Bayfield. LOL Here we plant soft white winter wheat with a 1590 JD (7.5" rows), 1.8 to 2.2 million seeds / acre depending on date of planting. We put 7.5 gallons of 10-34-0 in furrow; we find it delays emergence but doubles our early root development. We count plants and tillers in the spring and adjust our frost applied urea accordingly. We apply potash blended with the urea for the chlorine. We use herbicides only where necessary. We streamer 10-15 gallons of N. We use Folicur annually and Proline blended for the first time last year. (We liked the results) We have experiment with Kocide (Cu) and Headline. This year we will try changing the fungicide timings, adding an insecticide and a second streamered N application. As you can see, we are trying to learn from our Canadian neighbors. As for the exchange rate, I'll try to remember to bring some extra money with me this year. LOL | |
