Penobsquis, New Brunswick, Canada | when i was young, my father managed a heifer farm and was responsible for breeding with a bull.
one particular bull was prone to escape thru the one-wire electric fence....many times.
dad got sick of all the chasin and capturin and returnin to the field of this bull....wasn't allowed to make bullownie out of it.
one day, dad sent me for a neck chain and 40' of #9 wire. neck chain was installed on the bull's neck and one end of the wire was connected to it....the balance straightened out and allowed to follow the bull around.
well we did some sittin, watchin, and waitin....finally the bull went over the fence again........this time with continued stimulation electrically.
bull learned his lesson, but it took him 3 escapes to learn.
around here, young calves are tethered to a post nearby an electric fence, so they learn respect.........of a single wire.
your post brought back memories of my father, my childhood and my growing up.
