South Central Kansas | I have a book named "Trees, Shrubs and Woody Vines in Kansas" by H.A. Stephens. This looks like Deciduous Holly which is also called Possum Haw. The book says that the birds do not eat the fruits, but they nest in the shrub.
This is the closest it shows in the book, but doesn't seem to be an exact match since it has never been seen anywhere except far southeast Kansas.
