| that PSU guy...... county extension guy? state forage Extension specialist? PSU Ag Engineer? I believe Al Rotz has been doing a lot of the work with forages. He is an Ag Engineer, who works out of University Park, but actually works for USDA - at least he used to. if you fill me in the "PSU guy's" role, I might be able to tell you who he is.
The "wild grass" you are referring to is probably cheatgrass or downy brome. Yep, it is a problem in alfalfa, because it sets and matures its seed before the alfalfa is ready to cut. Cheat/ Downy brome is a winter annual that germinates in the fall. It does not appear to be a problem until "it is too late".
