| I did something similiar about 30 years ago. Was driving a steel post thru a bale of straw too hold it in a wash. For some reason after a couple strokes with the post driver I stepped up on the bale to finish driving the post. I miscalcualted & raised the driver above the post & when it came down the poat went between the driver & the palm of my hand creating a very deep gouge (still have the scar). My hand was throbbing when I got to the house .
We lived with my foster mother at the time who was in her 70s at the time. Wife was at work so I got the wound cleaned up my f.m. came in with a box of Morton table salt & said putting it on the wound would disinfect it & take the pain away, that her dad had always used salt on wounds. She was right on both accounts. It did disinfect the wound & I forgot about the pain from the accident. That salt hitting that open cut was the worse pain I have ever experienced. That old guy must have been one tough dude. | |
