Penobsquis, New Brunswick, Canada | 2 years ago , i started investigating the possibility of interseeding my beans....and everything seemed possible....till i came to harvest....and the green stuff into the combine. like you it concerns me.
in '08 i will interseed my beans, 24" rows, in late july, still can get down the row, with a narrow strip of high density green crop seed.
when it comes time to harvest, i will install a plastic shoe under the guards where i don't want to cut material, i.e. the center of the row where the green crop is, and this shoe will push the crop down before the knife gets to it. i feel this shoe will need to extend forward a bit ..............NOTE...this is an experiment at this stage.
