| I'm not far from you and you can forget the MI DNR for any help. The Dnr told me to put up a fence and when I asked if they would help me pay for it they said no because" they aren't our deer" I then said if they aren't your deer you won't mind if I shoot them. They said I better not get caught .The Michigan Natural Resources commission is squarely in the hunters camp and could care less if the farmers are losing thousands of dollars feeding this herd.Michigan Farm Bureau had the DNR on the ropes about 3 years ago when they threatened to sue them over the damage. That all went away when the DNR told Farm bureau they would look the other way on excessive manure application if MFB would forget the suit. With a dairyman at the helm of MFB at the time a deal was struck.Too bad for the rest of us crop farmers.I think the best way to handle it now is to get a group of farmers together to finance a class action suit for the deer damage. | |
