Little River, TX
Interesting side light on on using inoculant as a preservative. At the Dairy Forage Research Center, WI they found the inoculant did not work, while at the Artesia, NM research center they found it did. Difference was local conditions and management.
I have used buffered acid to baling start earlier in the morning. Now I cut no more than I can bale between too wet and too dry, which here is roughly 2 hours. The key is to be ready when conditions are ideal. Mostly a matter of time management.
I do all the hay operations with no help. Thank goodness for the NH automatic bale wagon.
