Subject: Keeping field edges clean

Bourbon, Indiana
I"ve been battling this for I dont know how many yrs. well......5 that's how long I"ve been farming with dad. But what do you guys use to keep field edges clean in corn fields? non RR. My biggest battle is grass and giant ragweed. We post spray all our corn with 1.5qts. atrazine, not sure of the rates but we use option (for grass) and Distinct (for giant rag).
Now I"m just throwing out some ideas here but would putting down 3qts. atrazine on the outside 24 rows when spraying help any if at all? I'm pretty sure 3qts. is the legal limit that's why I stopped there. but also will that be to much and kill the soybeans the following year? A couple of my landlords (including me) that are REAL fussy and I wanna keep them happy,
I realize that I'll have to do some spot spraying around the edges, that's what I do now but it just seems like whatever I use doesn't work, and if it does work it burns the corn (stalk).

Any suggestions greatly appreciated
