Subject: RE: ? about feeding soybean stubble

I have read with interest all of the replies about bean stubble. Practices sure vary around the country, here in nwia literally thousands of bales of bean stubble are baled specifically for feed. The big feedlots often use it as thier only roughage in finishing rations. Most all will grind it and mix in syrup from the ethanol plants to make it palatable. That probably doesn't help your situation with wintering cows, but maybe you could explore some possibilities with by-products to get your cows fed and somehow utilize the bean straw.
