How in the heck are you going to farm poorly enough to only gross $40,000 on 4-700 acres with $3.50 corn? That's a whopping 30 bu per acre.....if you can managed to only grow 30 bu per acre on 200 bu corn ground perhaps you maybe ought to find another job. 

If you are only going to gross $100,000 on 1000 acres you probably ought to not do that, either.   My math (using the 200 bpa figure above) says that 1000 acres should be grossing 3/4 million.
